I’ve used GVM lights for a while and find them to be generally well made and reliable. These RGB LED’s work well, the one draw back is that the RGB functions have to be controlled from an app which connects through bluetooth. The app works well, but I would prefer controls on the lights as well. Overall this is a good set of lights at a fait price, I would recommend them and purchase again.

I’ve used this light kit several times and they are bright and perfect for any job. I work in the broadcast industry and use the three lights for interviews. I use two on the subject and one for lighting up the background. It’s handy to be able to change the background with color and not have to use gels. I’ve used more expensive lights before but with this light kit there’s really no difference. Mike

Mind blowing. I chose GVM over aperture to save me some bucks. Definitely worth every penny. $1200 worth of aperture Ls series got me a wireless slider and a 2 light panels. I shoot wedding and music video and these lights set will do the unbelievable. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love these lights. Love love love. Light quality is fantastic, the diffusion on the front of the light is solid and creates decently soft light. Color temps are accurate. RGB is a great feature. I don’t use the app or any of that, but they’re fantastic. I even love the case that they come in. Size is convenient. Top access to the case is so nice. Wish the 800 had the same case. Only complaint is the barn doors are useless at their size, but they are sturdy and they protect the lights so that’s ok.

I use these lights in combination with a white prop box to take old family photos with my iPhone. They work great! I just turned the lights on around level 7 and the softbox smoothed out the light perfectly. Love these lights! My first wife’s mother had hundreds or even thousands of pictures of our marriage that I couldn’t easily reproduce at her home 100 miles away, and she wasn’t afraid to lose them! A great addition to the arsenal!
Stanford –
I got a set of these lights to outfit my wife’s zoom workstation and they turned out to be fantastic. Adjusting the brightness is very convenient. I just ordered a second set for my primary workstation and I will be installing them permanently on either side of my secondary monitor.

Real people here. Not a review bot. I work from home as a sign language interpreter. I needed great lighting so that deaf clients could see me clearly and these did the job. I have one on each end of my desk and they plug in via USB. I can adjust the height and rotate the lighting as well as turn the brightness up or down.
Augustine –
I wish we had an unboxing video with them. They are super compact and portable, with adjustable light intensity. We can run them in a battery pack, which is very convenient at times. We are considering adding another set to the gearbox along with the battery pack.
Cecil –
Overall, I like these lights because of their smaller size. They are great for product photography and some professional video work.
Morgan –
I absolutely love these lights, especially the price! Perfect for anyone who needs lights to stream on a budget!
Benedict –
I bought these because I’ve been doing more and more online meetings (2020), but my home office is very dark. These are perfect for what I need. I found that due to their close proximity to my face, they were sometimes a little too harsh for the light – turning down the brightness was fine, but sometimes the light started flickering and was definitely distracting. I blocked the light with some masks I put around (2020) and it was the perfect amount of extra diffusion I needed.

I’ve been researching lights for my classroom and saw a teacher on YouTube teaching with these lights, so I took the plunge and bought them. I teach online every night. Some people think they’re tiny, I think if you think about standing with them, they probably are, but the light you get from them is so good, I’ve even taught one when I’m not homeschooling (just a small difference). I support both of them on the sides of my laptop for teaching and the lighting is fantastic! You can attach them to tripods and selfie stick attachments at different heights. I love that I can darken my eyes when they get tired.
Geoffrey –
It’s lightweight (plastic). Not suitable for children. Not an expensive piece (stand). Don’t throw it around. If you’re aggressive, you can bite it off. If you’re going rough, pay more for a metal stand. I don’t move it. This is my second (repeated) purchase. Suitable for desktop. Have 2 PCs and am moving them from one point to another. Moved it after 4 months tired of lighting changes. Noticeably brighter on my Zoom/Team meetings – noticed the difference. I’ve tried colors and with my color, white is the best.
Elvis –
They have a control built into the power cord to control the brightness, and turning it all the way up, they do get brighter. These differences in the quality of videos shot in low-light areas will make them well worth having. Overall it’s still a good choice.
Victor –
The product is amazing and there are so many options.
Bing –
Already ordered a second set and considering ordering two more as I develop the shooting studio.
Barnett –
Pairing the overhead white light with a dual-screen deep yellow removes the shadows from my face without the need for expensive makeup. The extra mount also works with the new webcam.
Kim –
I get professional results with this affordable lighting kit. Couldn’t be happier! Great value for money, highly recommended!
Benjamin –
They offer subtle lighting changes, which is great since harsh colors can be off-putting in most environments.
Caesar –
I use them in my photography studio to make stop motion videos. They also work very well, they are very low in brightness and very bright at their highest settings. I love that they each have their own sturdy, easily adjustable tripod.
Ivan –
Very pleased with the versatility of these lights.
Gale –
Overall, an excellent pair of LED lights. Especially if you are looking for bright item lightning, or any kind of overhead/side lightning, highly recommended.
Nathan –
I bought this to use with a lightning item I am taking photos for sale. The LEDs are pretty bright (there’s a dimmer if it’s too bright), and the tripod extension can really raise it to typical desk heights if you need a specific color of light.
Lance –
In addition to studio lights, I also use these lights for portraits or macro work. I really like the dimmable feature, and the stands and their little tripods can be used alone or in combination – either as a selfie stick, clip on some stands to provide directional extra light, or stand alone light stands. After screwing on the tripod, the stand can be moved around while working in the studio. This set is suitable for tabletop or light work, but has the imagination to adapt to many different situations. I’ve found that they work well, are versatile, and are reasonably priced.
Ogden –
The stands they are in do their job. They’re not super heavy, so don’t expect them to stay up all night if you’re banging around a table or if there’s a high wind around for some reason.
Will –
Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase and I’m considering getting a few more shots for small objects.
Armstrong –
I will buy again if necessary. I also have to say that with the price of this item and some people saying they have issues with unstable lighting on uneven surfaces like grass, it’s not a big deal. There are many items you can put on the base legs that are heavy enough to hold the light in place. For myself, I have the weight to wrap the hands/legs, I’ll just wrap the bottom, no big deal. Be creative!
Moses –
For the price you pay for these lights, you can’t complain, and they light up easily. Are they sturdy enough to last a long time, probably not, depending on your hand weight. I have big hands but know how to approach things in a way that suits them. I don’t expect them to be a problem unless it’s out of my control, like an LED going off.
Hogan –
I have to say that for the low cost, I am currently very happy with the results produced. I would say ‘yes’, the quality of work feels fragile, but I can easily handle fragile things with my big hands, just handle them with care, just like I do with anything else.
Richard –
I just received this project and immediately set it up for testing with my green screen. I suffered from low light which resulted in very bad video. I use my desk lamp, from my kitchen table or my table top. For the two lights, I put them on the table, on either side of the laptop, and adjusted them so the lights wouldn’t blind me.
Michell –
It looks great and it’s not too expensive.
Tim –
These are the best LED panels I’ve tried. They are bright, but others are bright enough. Two things make these superior. First, they dim nicely and are controlled on the wires, not the back of the unit. All the LED lights seem to need diffusion (even just throwing a white handkerchief over it), which can mask the controls on the back. Second, the lights and brackets have tripod mount 1/4¡± 20 threads where you need them. This makes them easy to install, even on cold shoes. Beware of other lights with non-standard brackets.
Ives –
This is important to my streaming setup. No complaints, buy these if you’re looking for cheap lights that will get the job done.
Bruce –
The white filter smooths out the light so it doesn’t bother you. All the other options I’ve tried have too disturbing light hitting my eyes. Intensity control. There is no need for always too bright light. Different levels suit different needs (I use it on lower level video conferencing, but in my opinion the powerful level is great for taking portrait photos). The two brackets delivered are practical and make the whole package great value for money.
Bob –
I’m so glad I ordered this! Usually, I have morning meetings with no or low natural light. The light in the room was behind me, which made my face on the screen very dark. Even with natural light, the face looks better when I turn it on. Also, I highly recommend that whatever option you choose, have two lights on hand – the light will be more natural if it comes from the left and right (I put it on the brackets on the left and right of the screen).
Clare –
These lights are lightweight, compact and provide great lighting! Adjustable height makes them easy to adjust and reposition on a table or floor.
Mark –
Things to note: I use it to make YouTube videos (currently MMA content) I’ve attached a photo of how I used to light myself up. I’ve only started making videos for the past 3 weeks, so I’m pretty new to all this. I am using StreamLabs OBS and Logitech C920 webcam. I watched a video about setting up the webcam and OBS settings between the previous photo and the photo with the lights. I strongly recommend you do the same. My webcam also zooms in on the “before” photo, which I think hurts the resolution somewhat. So, lights are just one piece of the puzzle. I recommend watching some videos on lighting tips as well.
Leopold –
Here are my initial reviews of these lights just last night. I don’t know how I could be more satisfied with these prices. They are lightweight and easy to install. The cord might be considered short to some, and the stand could easily tip over if subjected to shocks, but considering the price of this set, it’s fantastic. Buy a USB extension cable and a sturdy stand with the money you save. I was looking for a few hundred bucks of lights before buying these. Buying these was actually an impulse buy…and I’m happy with it.
Jeremy –
I absolutely love the quality of these <3 great value for money! I have them mounted on each side of my computer and they provide the perfect light for my photos and my live broadcasts! !
Jacob –
It provides great light without being harsh or harsh and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to do product reviews, YouTube videos or just take high quality photos for social media etc… ?
Hardy –
I bought these to help me with some desktop reviews and photos of various products. They are very lightweight (almost!) and offer good brightness. The interchangeable filter colors are cool, although I’ve only used white diffuse light so far. They have adjustable brightness via an inline switch, and you can use the ball joint on the light itself to modify the light angle. It has a relatively wide tripod-style base to support it, and a telescopic shaft that allows it to extend to a good height.
Larry –
It’s been 7 months and they still work fine, of course, they never move or unplug from where I put them on my desk, so moving them doesn’t cause wear and tear.
Andrew –
These are preliminary reviews, which means these are my thoughts on the product after a few days. If anything happens in the next few weeks to months, I’ll update my review to reflect things. So far so good, they seem to get really bright and light up my face nicely. Regarding brightness, they offer 10 levels of brightness. When turned on, you can adjust the brightness up or down in 10% increments, from a minimum of 10% to a maximum of 100%, for a total of 10 levels of brightness.
Amos –
The lights are multifunctional, but have no cable management. (I zip the wire with the controller to one of the legs of the base) Turning the light off and on again will keep you at the brightness setting (very good), but unplugging the USB power will reset that setting. All of these are little things, and for the price of these lights, I can’t recommend enough.
Michael –
The stand and arms are adjustable so I can change not only the height but also the angle from various points. I ended up using a wall that bounced back to diffuse the light in front, and then I used another light with a blue filter behind me. It’s perfect.
Gary –
They also need to fit in my desk space…which is a challenge since I have 2 32″ monitors (about 25 or 26″ tall) on top of the monitor stand. These lights extend to my monitor with no problem.
Lyndon –
Forget expensive lighting. These things are a set of 2 and are bright. Color filters etc are just extras. My criteria is that my lights need to be LED (low power and bright colors) and dimmable.
Dick –
These lights are cheap and just perfect. (Not perfect, but more perfect than the cost)
Alexander –
I’ve done some recordings and game streaming and recently changed rooms and needed new lighting.
Colin –
These are not the highest quality lights around. However, these are very cheap and you will get a lot of your stuff. I use them as lights in my podcast studio. The stands and everything look like low-quality plastic, but again the price is what you can expect. The stands also act as selfie sticks. I like them so much that I can buy another set. In the photos I posted, they were at their highest settings.
Dempsey –
I used to use traditional light bulbs for photography lights and they got so hot. GVM take my money! Works great for photography/video and USB power if you’re somewhere without a power outlet but with a USB battery charger. Many extension cables now also have USB ports, so it’s convenient.
Luther –
We were looking for a lighting rig to apply the proper light to our green screen to remove shadows and this rig does just that! We have our studio in a small room and are looking for an alternative to large box lights. This set is delivered! !
Clarence –
These lights are perfect for illuminating me and my green screen! I have both lights on either side of the monitor and I can chroma key green screen in OBS just fine. They also helped me reduce the exposure and gain of the c922 webcam, which reduced the noise in the image!
Robert –
These GVMLED video lights are just what I need for my conference calls. Light me up only at 50% intensity. When seated, they are almost eye level. Lock it in place by rotating the extension lever. The tripod legs are removable, leaving behind the foam handle and wrist strap. I don’t need it for my project, but someone might want to shoot with a light. These are not headlights, they are light and small to light small projects or video conferences.
