Since two years I also own an earlier GVM lights: GVM-LT-50F.
GVM 1300D is nice improvement over my previous lights. Noticeably lighter, significantly slimmer, ability to precisely dim light to almost zero, immediate reaction to knob turns, runs well on NP-F batteries and – it is an RGB light, which may come handy at times. It seems to be a bit brighter than my old light too. Last nice touch is the case (my previous lights came in cardboard boxes only). Overall, maybe not pro durability and finish, but more than adequate for hobby and light use.
I have not used remote control features yet, I can’t comment on these yet.

PS: I now tried remote control features, GVM iPhone application works exactly as you can see in many YouTube results with all good and bad. It does work reliably, you can control one light at a time. One thing that application would definitively benefit from would be to ability to assign name to your lights. As it is now – it only displays UUID’s of the lights, application could translate these to meaningful names. MASTER/SLAVE mode on the other hand only works for extremely short distance, like 2..3 feet. I bit further if both lights are facing each other, about 2 ft if they are positioned side by side. It is probably internal transmitter antenna shielded by the metal housing of the lights. From practical usability point of view MASTER/SLAVE mode does not exist.

I own a midsize video content agency and have been looking for some affordable, portable, reliable and flexible LED panels for some time. I have now used the lights for a couple of months and can honestly say they have exceeded my expectations. This is the second set of GVM lights I have purchased and both products are perfect for what I do. We are video creators primarily creating commercials, marketing videos, music videos and these lights work so well. They are flicker free and plenty bright enough to light multiple people in an interview situation. I’ve also used them to light green screens and talent. They are simple to operate and only took me five minutes to figure out how to slave them together and control them all from the app on my phone. I love that the color temperature can be dialed in any way I like which makes mixed lighting situations easy to handle because I can match the color temperature of the natural light of the room. The built in dimmers work perfectly and it allows me to set up the scene exactly the way I want. One of the best things is that the can operate from batteries or from the included power cables. This is so beneficial when you need a quick shot outside or you just don’t want cables running everywhere. I actually really love the special effects modes like disco, police light and lightning. I recently used the lightning effect for a commercial and it impressed my client because it was so fast to set up and looked great on screen. I also used the police light effect as a reflection on a wall and it was completely convincing. In the last interview I used a color mode to splash blue on the wall and then used the other two lights to light the on screen talent. No more color gels! I also really like the stands that come with the lights. They are sturdy and fold down so they also fit inside the carrying case. The lights themselves look and feel high quality. The entire set is affordable, flexible, well-built and plenty bright enough. I have replaced three bags of stands and lights with this one kit! My team loves having to only carry this one bag! Overall, I love these lights and for the price you cannot go wrong!

This are my to-o lights for Youtube content. They are RGB, bright, light and they come in a carrying bag with stands included. I use to carry 3 C-stands, lights and modifiers… Now, I just take this kit and my camera. I even used for product photography and food photography, i left some examples in my photos. Great kit

These lights are excellent, considering the price. You could use them for a standard 3-point setup, especially if you add a softbox or other diffusion. They also make great background lights for a YouTube studio. They are very bright and convenient with the option for battery power. The light stands are not heavy duty, but sufficient for light travel and home/studio use. The carrying case is also very nice. If you need quality lighting but don¡¯t want to invest in a bigger Aputure 120D-type light, or you just want some powerful background accents, these are definitely worth the price.

These work perfectly! Replaced the ring light that was fine but showed a halo in the picture. It replaces fluorescent umbrella lights, which work best but are large and bulky, rather than LEDs. So these panels are the best replacements I’ve found, and it’s great to have a remote that controls both. More lights can be added to the group if needed!

I definitely recommend these lights for budget friendly photography/videography needs.

This is an excellent gvm 2-pack bi-color panel light set. It comes with a panel, tripod, plug and case. It has an LED panel on the back for modes and adjustments. This is a simple portable light kit with good output ad quality.

    Justin

As a professional photographer and videographer, my husband is always looking for quality lighting and loves the gvm brand. These lights certainly didn’t disappoint. Each light has its own remote that can be easily programmed to run a specific light. The light is easy to assemble and take apart, and the storage bag is a huge plus and is very sturdy. The light output is excellent, allowing you to warm, cool and dim your subject. highly recommended

These are bright lights with nifty two-way controllers. Color brightness and temperature. Pretty bright for a webcam, not sure about larger rooms, but with two and a stand, you can position them well.

Amazing deal at current prices. This is one of the best budget-friendly video lighting kits.

This kit packs everything you need into a convenient carrying case with pockets to keep everything organized. Everything is so easy to use, very well thought out design.

  14. 5 out of 5

    Marcus

Color temperature can be adjusted via a dedicated dial on the back, and the current color temperature can be easily checked on the backlit screen. Brightness is adjusted via its own dedicated dial, with the current brightness displayed on the screen from 1% to 100%.

  15. 5 out of 5

    Noah

The resulting light is soft and even, ideal for dealing with shadows. No need for a softbox.

    Matt

These LED panels are lightweight, easy to adjust, and feature a permanent built-in diffuser on the front of the panel. The design is elegant, stylish and functional.

  17. 5 out of 5

    Haley

All that said, I’d like to point out that for portable purposes, they are unbeatable. I’ve been taught to use what you have to take the best photos, and no expense will make you a better photographer!

    Jacob

I want something more portable and less complicated. So I went to my trusty Amazon and bought this GVM panel light at a super cheap price. To my surprise, they work very well! ! ! ! They’re easy to adjust, easy to install, cover all common color temperatures, and get incredibly bright yet great diffusion. But what I like the most is the portability! The two lights are easy to break down with a tripod, adapter and everything and fit into a super small and lightweight case. They are also very cheap. Honestly, if these only lasted 6 shots, I’d buy another pair as they’re still easier to transport than my other setups.

  19. 5 out of 5

    Nelson

So in a perfect world, everyone would come to my studio to finish photos (I think I have a great setup), but that’s not actually the case. You have to go to them or wherever they want to take a portrait. So that means you need something that works well but is portable. It’s really top of the line stuff and it’s all nicely packaged in these really nice rolling carts

  20. 5 out of 5

    Barry

These are great. 100% recommended. Can’t wait to see what GVM has next! Hope my photos help you understand these features.

    Lyndon

I wouldn’t hesitate to light up anyone with these. It offers rock-solid performance in a well thought out, presented and combined kit, as well as the many accessories themselves, which are premium, high-quality accessories. In fact, I don’t see a single piece that reminds me of “cheap” or “rubbish”. not one. It’s so easy to use that I haven’t read the manual yet. Why do I need to?

  22. 5 out of 5

    Murphy

I’m what you would call a “senior amateur” photographer, but I have to tell you that if you’re even a professional photographer, you should seriously consider adding GVM products to your gear list. I wouldn’t say all of their products are home runs (they aren’t). But some of them, including these lights, are worth incorporating into any professional photography environment.

  23. 5 out of 5

    Eugene

Keeping up with their trend of making products better than previous generations, we come to this case. First…everything fits. Lights and stands. All packed in one box. Not only that…but every component…every clip, power brick, remote, power cord, has its own separate section in the case. By the way, this case is a long single case, not the 2 small cases described in the description. I prefer the single case they offer, it can hold everything. Talk about setting up and removing real-time saving actions, not the drudgery of “Which cable is where and where did that part go?” Newell. You are putting some real effort into making a product that is consumer friendly and performs well.

  24. 5 out of 5

    Leopold

Installing the hardware (and operation, frankly) is pretty intuitive. That said, I unboxed them and put them in full operational mode, ready to shoot anything I wanted without opening the manual. Mounting them to the stand is simple, self-explanatory, and the parts are of very good quality. I never thought “hmm, how long will this take to break?” because all the parts here are very well made. Great job, GVM.

  25. 5 out of 5

    David

beyond my imagination. If you’ve purchased other GVM products with brackets in the past, you should find these to be better than most of the previous ones.

  26. 5 out of 5

    Hale

Usually I go out of my way to mention the stands of these lights because usually they are not worth mentioning. But I’m going to mention these. Why? It looks like GVM has even upped their OWN quality level with the stands they include, as these are probably the best stands I’ve ever gotten with a set of GVM lights.

  27. 5 out of 5

    Andrew

As you can see, these provide a pretty decent range, and the evenness is also very good. I’m not sure if I can tell the individual LEDs apart if I try. Of course they come with an AC adapter

  28. 5 out of 5

    Christian

They are really big. Big enough that you can do some pretty decent coverage. The uniformity of light is also amazing. If you need some tracking, I sincerely recommend these for your light table!

  29. 5 out of 5

    Mark

Full disclosure, I’m a fan of GVM. The reason is, I don’t mind paying for a premium product, but I understand that doesn’t necessarily mean I have to pay for a top brand. GVM tends to offer very decent products at very decent prices, so I see myself as their fan base.

  30. 5 out of 5

    Ralap

This 2-pack of GVM LED lights works great. I mainly use these lights for video, but also for photography. These two lights are part of my lighting set. I have a brighter/more versatile light as my main light and these two round out the light. They provide very even light distribution and mitigate any shadows. They are height adjustable and easy to use. The stand is easy to adjust and sturdy. Lights up as a whole.

  31. 5 out of 5

    Paul

Anyway, the lights are good enough that I give this 5 stars for that alone!

  32. 5 out of 5

    Merlin

Overall, I’m impressed with the price/performance ratio of these lights. This was unheard of a few years ago. Very bright, with good control and excellent light diffusion.

  33. 5 out of 5

    Lance

Setup is fairly simple. I did it without reading the instructions, and it took about 5 minutes from opening the suitcase to installing and plugging in the lights. The fault is just as easy, each component (the tripod itself) has compartments in the travel case to sit in a case that fits in the travel case).

  34. 5 out of 5

    Michell

The light is very good: completely diffuse, without any sign of a single LED. One stand is enough to fill a large room with light. Two brackets are enough to do this and address any shade. The adjustment knob on the light is tight and the light assembly feels like it should last.

  35. 5 out of 5

    Robin

Take this kit. You get two complete light stands (lamp, tripod, stand, power supply), a remote, and a carrying case, things that would have cost 5-10 times more to replicate in the bad days of incandescents. With those old light kits, you can run the air conditioner at full capacity to keep everyone from sweating under the heat of the giant lights.

  36. 5 out of 5

LED technology continues to move forward and offers insanely high-quality lighting options at affordable prices.

  37. 5 out of 5

    Dominic

A little pricey, but they work well, the lighting is very bright, and the settings can be easily adjusted to your needs. They can all extend at different heights and angles. It also comes with a storage bag with plenty of padding to protect them.

  38. 5 out of 5

    Charles

Softbox light style filters provide true opacity instead of a translucent look. The suitcase it comes in is very well organized. See photos. It even has separate pockets at the top and they provide an extra empty pocket for whatever you need.

  39. 5 out of 5

    Harold

The stand is lightweight and not tiring to carry in the closed GVM case. You can see that they have a variety of extensions, giving you a lot of flexibility to meet your height requirements.

  40. 5 out of 5

    Carl

Another very important thing is the remote control. If you’re the tubing I’m working on, and it’s the subject of your shoot, you want to be able to see on a monitor how the final product will look and be able to fine-tune the color balance where are you? Have to try the settings, get up and look, then go back to the dial on the back and try again, you can’t create a frame of reference and be able to adjust it to perfection. This set has it all.

  41. 5 out of 5

    Martin

They emit a lot of light, and the power of the GVM boosts gaming performance. Since you can dim them, having more of an advantage is the ability.

  42. 5 out of 5

    Nathan

My nephew owns a studio and is shooting high quality photos, he prefers to shoot everything in RAW. This way he can correct colors, shadows and highlights, and you can do so without worrying about quality loss because all the data you need is there. Editing raw 4K files, for example, requires a lot of work. One benefit of choosing a color temperature/white balance is if you’re shooting and want to show your subject what the product will look like, or at least show a sample of the product right away. So, color temperature adjustment is very important to me. I don’t like the prospect of bleaching. Give me warmth every day.

  43. 5 out of 5

    Maxwell

Of all my different lighting kits, GVM is my favorite. In my case, having brightness and color temperature settings is the bottom layer. I know you can adjust the white balance in post-production, but I prefer to make it look great while shooting.

  44. 5 out of 5

    William

A large part of my assessment is based on “brand trust”. I’ve been lucky with the brand since entering this new phase of photography. As a working tool, I say stick with brands you trust and don’t be swayed by the nominal price savings on products you trust.

  45. 5 out of 5

    George

GVM panel lights are a total of 5 star products. price? Well, if you don’t need a case, want a floor stand instead of a clip stand, and feel comfortable using another brand.

  46. 5 out of 5

    Ives

When you look at comparing light head systems, you may find, like me, a competitive brand that offers this same light head and remote. The main difference is that while this GVM “kit” comes with a nice carrying case, floor stand, no case.

With a large inventory of NP-F batteries, all the lighting and accessories in the recording area of ??my office are running.

  48. 5 out of 5

    Hilary

In an enclosed space, I prefer to manually set up the lighting where I’m being recorded. I can adjust the lighting and see how it works, making additional fine-tuning. If I place the light head on the ceiling or somewhere inconvenient to access and adjust, yes, I use the remote. So many lighting systems in my inventory do have remotes. This is a quick study.

  49. 5 out of 5

    Lawrence

It provided just enough frontal light to keep the camera’s autofocus on me, not the wall behind me. So these two lights simplify my lighting setup. It’s not that the previous system wasn’t as good, it was just that it wasn’t as compact.

  50. 5 out of 5

    Ogden

The GVM1300D panel light is one of the best light sources I’ve found for close-up recordings. They can be used as “soft lights”; no need to soften lenses or panels before attaching them. For my review recording area, which is also my office, I usually sit at my desk with the head set to 3200K color temperature and 20-25% brightness, and I’m ready to record.

  51. 5 out of 5

    Lester

You can manage colors from the back of the light or from the app. It sets white from 3200k to 5600K. You can change the mode and then set the RGB color combination. Preset lighting scenes for a variety of environments. Like disco, normal lights or parties, etc.

  52. 5 out of 5

    Dean

I did use it recently in my party photo booth setup and it adds a beautiful color to the photos.

Add awesome color and lighting to your photography. I am an amateur photographer but absolutely love these lights.

  54. 5 out of 5

    James

I can’t believe the build quality and range of functionality these lights offer. They are much brighter than I expected and feel very solid. The included stand is also durable enough for frequent use. I’ve used them 10 times so far and I haven’t had any issues. I mainly use them for the bi-color function, but use the RGB function to add color to the background of some shots and it works great! Switching between the two functions is very easy and the controls are very intuitive!

  55. 5 out of 5

I’ve tried the remote control feature now and the GVM iPhone app works exactly like you’ve seen in many YouTube results, good and bad. It does work reliably and you can control one light at a time. One thing the app will definitely benefit from is the ability to assign names to your lights. As it is now – it just shows the UUIDs of the lights, and the app can translate these into meaningful names. On the other hand, master/slave mode is only suitable for extremely short distances, such as 2..3 feet. I would go a step further if the two lights were facing each other, about 2 feet if they were side by side. It could be an internal transmitter antenna shielded by the metal casing of the lamp. From a practical usability perspective, there is no MASTER/SLAVE mode.

I also own an older GVM light from two years ago: the GVM-LT-50F. The GVM 1300D is a nice improvement over my previous lights. Significantly lighter, slimmer, capable of precise dimming of light to almost zero, instant response to the turn of a knob, works well on NP-F batteries – it’s an RGB light that might come in handy sometimes. It also seems to be a little brighter than my old lights. The last nice feeling is that this is the case (my previous lights only came in cardboard boxes). Overall, maybe not professional durability and finish, but more than enough for hobby and light use.

Two very practical lights with tripod, remote control and very long power cord in a very handy carrying case. This is an extraordinary lighting value.

  59. 5 out of 5

What a difference these make when I’m on Zoom. If you put them in your front corner, focus the light down, and get your camera to look down too, you’ll really look good. You can look younger and better. amazing. I just bought a second set for another location.

These are absolutely the best lights I’ve ever bought. I have used multiple box lights and panel lights and these are without a doubt the best. Adjustable face up or down, small enough to sit in a corner, long cord, love it!

The LED Video Lighting Kit is really a great set of lights, this is the second set I’ve purchased. The light is nice and bright, I really like the portability of the kit, the light stand folds up nicely

    Noah

Thanks GVM for making such a great product and easy to use/set up! I would also like to say that it is durable, I accidentally knocked it over a few times without any issues! Not that I recommend this, but I’m glad they didn’t happen! I use them to teach virtual fitness classes at home and it works great! I bought them a while ago and it took me a while to get them up, but I’ve been using them for months!

It’s a great kit that takes up less space, offers all-around lighting temperature control, and is easy to set up and use.

  69. 5 out of 5

    Nelson

I use these for my YT channel Nemo Propaganda review #shamelssplug. They work well because you can adjust the temperature, and they are soft enough to remove most shades. While they’re not as warm as my old softboxes, they still make the room a little warm, even though I have very little space to shoot, so I just turn on the air conditioner while I’m shooting. Love these so much, I bought a second pair for a friend who also has YT channels, so I really like them.

  70. 5 out of 5

    Barry

The ability to control brightness and warmth via the remote is a major plus. The only current aspect I would change is the length of the power cord. When the light is at its height, the light adapter hangs from the light rather than resting on the floor. I would increase the distance between that length of power cords and let the box rest on the floor.

  71. 5 out of 5

    Lyndon

I am very impressed with the first set of GVM lights. So after a few months, I bought a second set. Currently, I use one of these for Zoom recordings in my office. Soon I will be promoting all 4 lights in my feature film shoot for a dramatic reenactment in Houston’s soul food story.

  72. 5 out of 5

    Murphy

highly recommended! I purchased these to use in our basement so our daughter can teach virtual classes as our overhead lights don’t look great online. These are easy to set up. Height and light adjustability is very good to get the right lighting at the right angle. I recently had a problem with one of the lights and contacted GVM. Customer service has been excellent in responding to my emails and resolving issues in a timely manner.

All in all, I’m so excited about the quality and quantity here, I can’t recommend this set any more for their excellent quality and ease of use – 10/10.

These included duffel bags are also STELLAR, providing separate protective compartments for the lights themselves and more space for tripods and accessories. Turns out it’s so easy to pack and unpack – heck, I even have enough room to fit my auxiliary lights and their remotes comfortably!

  75. 5 out of 5

    David

The display brightness and temperature range is insane – I didn’t expect such an incredibly bright and intense light at 100% and absolutely love the LCD panel on the back with the option to increase the brightness in 25% increments as well Everything in between (0-100%).

    Hale

Having chosen these as my main lighting fixtures to launch my livestreaming and YouTube business, I am either impressed or satisfied with the package.

  77. 5 out of 5

    Andrew

We used these for our Zoom weddings and the videos and photos were fantastic. Everything is easy to connect, and the remote lets you sync both lights to the same setup or control them individually. One problem I’ve seen in other reviews is that the power cord is short enough that if the light is fully extended, the power box is in the middle of the pole; this is real, not ideal. But what we did to take the pressure off the plug was to use the included Velcro straps to attach the box to the pole to reduce the weight of the wires. For a long time after that, the remaining rope is enough.

These lights are ideal for any type of personal video. Here are the main points that convince me. 1. Can’t beat the price. GVM holds so much value, I don’t know how others compete with it. 2. Two LED light boards have everything you want: beautiful soft light – perfect for personal videos. Excellent control: Brightness, color temperature 3000K (warm) to 5800K (white). Simple and intuitive operation with LCD screen.

I try to do my homework, so I take the time to check out all the lighting options on Google and Amazon. This light kit from GVM is by far the best value for money. But by the time I finished my research, Amazon was sold out. I have waited too long. Fortunately, after a few weeks, they got more.

As everyone telecommutes more – and that’s clearly here to stay – we realize that poor video quality can affect what other people think of us, just as dressing unprofessional can cause people to treat us differently . The same thing holds true if you’re making a personal video…if your personal video looks bad, so do you.
