Overall, I really like this lamp and think it’s worth the money.
Morgan –
You do have some lighting settings at your disposal, including dealing with color temperature. There are various variations between the available levels of color temperature. You can go from a very cool pure white to a very warm almost very orange color. I tend to stick with this particular setting because I love the warm tones in my videos, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. But being able to have many options to cycle through is always very useful.
Mike –
Great light, wonderful for product photography
Daniel –
I highly recommend the light, it will definitely serve me for years to come!
August –
I needed a more powerful and powerful light and this is exactly what I wanted. It can be used in bicolor mode or as an rgb fixture, also with effects. It comes with a reflector attachment that greatly enhances the light and helps control diffusion. But there’s also a Bowens mount so you can attach a variety of other accessories. I already own a GVM softbox with a P80S light and now I can use it with this light as well. I might buy another one. Or buy a GVM Lantern Ball Softbox, which I think would be a great accessory for this light if I wanted a softer light from this fixture. It comes with a diffuser that you can install directly from the LEDs to further soften the light (see the picture I uploaded). Or I can just use it directly for a harder light without any diffuse attachment. The stand allows you to mount the light horizontally, so it can be used as an overhead light or as a backlight, making it more versatile. The GVM app that works with this light is very useful and very easy/intuitive to use. The light also comes with a storage box for easy transfer, so bringing it to the site is simple and convenient. Again I wanted a light that could be used in a variety of ways and this was perfect for my needs.
Troy –
Bought these to make YouTube videos of antique pedal machines that I collect and restore. One of the stands was damaged and was replaced promptly upon notification to GVM! (They let me know about this.) Love the ability to change the color and overall brightness to suit my needs. They were very bright so I dimmed them to set – much better than not being bright enough! So glad I got these and the smaller ones. Also bought a set of rollers as a background, love those. I am using a heavier paint cloth for the background. There is still a lot to learn! ! Lighting is very, very important and these work great! !
Tim –
This is a great light! Love this light as it helps with the job. I use it for my youtube channel videos. Overall easy to set up, beautiful lighting!
Michael –
These are perfect for the product videos I make for clients
Victor –
Perfect
Ralap –
Probably more than you need indoors, but very useful outdoors.
Calvin –
I bought this RGB light for my film students who have the option to use soft lighting. So far, in the first week of use, everything is working fine.
Andy –
Very good lights for video.
Gordon –
The light provided by this 200W dimmable LED light is like bringing the sun into our studio, the remote control makes every aspect very convenient to use because many times we can’t run from one place to another to change the light Setup, great addition to our studio! cheers!
Robin –
Great product, love newer gear, affordable and works great.
Marcus –
The fan is quiet. In fact, I’m going to try it out in an interview program.
Murray –
I needed a studio light at a price point that was quick and easy to set up, and the LED light’s 200 watts made it as bright as a more powerful halogen light without the heat issues. very happy!
Julius –
Just received the light. First impression is that it is very bright. Low noise and excellent structure. Recommended to buy.
Richard –
If more are available, I will buy more.
Harry –
The Bowen mount is great and makes the light very versatile – so far I’ve used it as a main light for portraiture and as a hair light for video work. I mostly pair it with the Aputure Light Dome Mini II (BH #APMINIDOME2) and it’s so handy to have bi-color and RGB lights – I don’t need any gel anymore!
Stanford –
The wireless connectivity options that GVM offers for their lighting products are great, and the SD200R has no issues pairing with my other GVM lights. The light color and temperature of the entire lighting group can be quickly adjusted. I’m thinking of building my studio around GVM’s lights just for this feature.
Matt –
It has some plastic parts, but has an aluminum casing. All of this helps make it very lightweight, which is what I prefer. However, it still feels sturdy and well-made. I also like that the tilt mechanism has teeth. This allows me to use larger light modifiers. I put on my large GVM Parabolic Softbox and it snaps into place easily without any slippage or drift (GVM Parabolic Softbox Light Dome (35) BH #GVSOFTBOX). This light has a Bowens stand, which adds to its versatility and opens the door to a bunch of accessories. I appreciate the little things about this lamp. They make it possible and very easy to connect the power supply to the light stand using the provided velcro straps. This is very helpful. I like that it comes with a case. This may sound like a small thing, but in my experience, having a case to store the lights in when traveling or in general storage helps reduce wear and tear considerably. This goes a long way to extending the life of the lamp. I like to have a case. Overall, I think this is a great light, especially for the price. It’s versatile and a pleasant addition to my lighting kit.
Antonio –
This light is super bright. The lighting is great. I use it for music videos and it makes my videos better than ever. It doesn’t come with any color filters.
Dempsey –
The light is great and I love the case, it’s good quality and easy to carry. This light is incredibly versatile and packs a punch. It’s very bright and sturdy, and I love the functionality of the phone app, which allows me to easily set up multiple GVM lights and change settings on the fly.
Mark –
This is the second light and third product I bought from GVM (the others are a set of BD-100 LED Tubes (BH #GVMBD1002P) and a 32 Motorized Slider (BH #GVGP80QD)), and I’m continuing on this one The company’s products are impressive.
Cecil –
So how do I mainly use it? Well, I used it as the main light source for this reel. In fact, I’m using it now and I think it’s great. I tend to keep it in a warm setting, but not the warmest, so they can still look natural enough. One thing to note is that this is a very powerful light, so for comfortable brightness I had to keep this light at around 10% of its maximum potential. It’s crazy because it just shows how incredibly bright it can get, but I don’t think I’d ever go above 20% under any circumstances. The other settings are too powerful, but I’m sure this feature will come in handy if you have to keep this light at a distance. Again, flexibility is really nice.
Hardy –
As a film/TV teacher, this lamp is fantastic. I’m always looking for great value for money and this lamp fits that description. Students can use it in various situations. It emits a lot of light at 100% intensity, but can be turned down when less light is needed. It would also be great to be able to use it in bicolor mode or RGB. It’s like 2 lights in one. The fact that it’s Bowen’s stand only adds to its flexibility as you can buy many different accessories and mount it on the front. Like softboxes of different sizes/shapes, Fresnel barn doors…or just glued to the reflectors provided. You can also just use the provided hood diffuser to soften the light. It’s also helpful to have an app that lets you control your lights remotely. LEDs are also good because the light is powerful but not too hot for students to handle. It’s like a swiss army knife for us because it can be used in so many different scenarios and settings, which is great for my budget. Students love it because it is also very lightweight.
Jeffrey –
I haven’t stopped using it for everything. The brightness on this is amazing
Tony –
It has good power and light to work, it is a bit expensive for me but I do recommend it
Dave –
Works perfectly. Amazing for pro tasks.
Bennett –
These lights are easy to put in the stands and act with them. After using the umbrella light for a year, I have only used it once and I love the simple setup. You can control the brightness and color of the lights, and the GVMSD200R lights themselves can be adjusted to almost every angle – these lights are great for anyone looking to shoot auditions or home music videos. I have big plans for these lights…
Eugene –
The stands are decent, with plenty of height and plenty of adjustment points, so nothing to complain about. I set them up permanently and don’t carry them anywhere, so can’t speak to portability, but assuming I can fit them in the included bag, it should be fine.
Augustine –
This is a very sturdy lamp that works well. Worried because it’s cheap but I don’t have any problems
Baron –
This light is well made and comes complete with a reflector, light diffuser, power supply, power mounting hardware and padded housing.
Ogden –
The perfect camera light for all levels of photography. This is exactly what I was looking for to help improve my photography projects. The Bluetooth app controls are a lot more useful than I thought. If you’re wondering, I’ll definitely give it a try.
Ian –
Really happy with this purchase! They look incredible and perform great.?
Abraham –
I have never owned any other lights, bought this pair for my home office and they are really great. Almost always use the warmest color and lowest brightness, which is enough for good lighting. Sometimes when I need to record some video, it adds a little brightness.
Newman –
Bought this kit for our vet. I’m running a photo booth with props and I need a proper lady because we’ll be outside at night. But boy, it works just fine. Since then, I’ve used it to make some videos and shoot some headshots for our company’s employees. great, love that it’s easy to transport
Thomas –
This project is bigger and brighter than I expected. This is a real dining light!
Derrick –
It’s a powerful light, perfect for still photography and video.
Dick –
The GVM light is excellent when it comes to making videos and taking stunning professional photos.
Nathan –
The lights have excellent output at 100, with a good CRI, it dips as you dim, but that’s to be expected. Overall fantastic light for video purposes and throw some diffusion in the front and you get nice skin tones. The remote control works fine. Easy purchases will be done any day.
Broderick –
I like this lamp very much. It’s nice to be able to change the color temperature. It would be even better to be able to change the color to whatever I want. Solid interface. It seems to be well made. The case it comes with is top-notch.
Benedict –
Worth every penny. Extreme value props are here. The price is only a fraction of that.
Tyler –
Nice, sturdy light. Easy to use controls. The Bowens stand works with all my existing accessories. I’ve used it on a few shoots now and it does the job every time.
Hamiltion –
I own 2 of these in a small video studio – well lit and not loud when using the mic.
Franklin –
This is a great rgb video light. Goes from low to very bright. Perfect for studio use. Very happy.
Sandy –
I am very satisfied with this lamp. I found it to be very bright for its size, and the condenser provided works well to help increase the light intensity. The fact that it’s bicolor and rgb is awesome. Makes this light very versatile. The mode switching of the light itself is very simple and intuitive. You can also set it to master-slave mode to control multiple lights. But having a companion app is awesome. I found the app very useful, responsive and easy to navigate. You can even control multiple lights individually. This makes operating them very convenient, as you can make changes remotely while watching through a camera or monitor. It also comes with a variety of special effects modes (TV, fireworks, etc.) which are adjustable. While I don’t use effects mode very often, it’s nice to have options when needed. Build quality is great, especially for this price.
Owen –
This light is super bright and sturdy.
The remote is nice and Bowens mounts are great for adding mods in the safety of your mansion.
My fans are quiet now, not overheating) and still bright on the lowest setting (I use diffuse and proximity to drive it).
Marlon –
Very good light, very bright, you can change the intensity. Value for money.
Maxwell –
Bright LED COB lights are great value for money!
Jim –
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for to help improve my photography projects. I’ve tried the other one, but it’s inconsistent at times and needs some tweaking to make some angles even. The Bluetooth app controls are a lot more useful than I thought. If you’re wondering, I’ll definitely give it a try.
Aaron –
This light is perfect for the main light in my YouTube studio. Softboxes and honeycombs are perfect for directing the light in the right direction, reducing any spillage and brightening the room. It’s very light at 200 and is dimmable.
Dominic –
I liked it the first time I used it, and it is easy for beginners to get started. I want to end up with another
Isaac –
These could easily cost more. I’m shocked how good it is for such a low price. Great value for money! It’s sturdy and works well.
Moses –
For the price it offers a great light. The case is not super durable and is made of plastic. The reflector adapter has a good locking mechanism. Good value for money considering many brighter lights are much more expensive.
Philip –
Bought one for myself, liked it very much, and bought another for my brother. If I had enough money, I’d buy one for your brother too, because anyone taking pictures should have a light like this.
Sean –
Softboxes are like other brands I assist with professional photo shoots.
Simon –
If it’s possible to fall in love with an inanimate object, I’m in love!
Hale –
The fan is very quiet, but still noticeable. I recorded video and had no sound issues, so unless you’re recording very low audio, I wouldn’t worry about it. But I know sometimes people have sensitive cases, so I think it’s worth paying attention.
Addison –
Two of my photos are the lights in the video, this is the only light I use for this video
Martin –
This product is perfect for my needs. As a content creator on YouTube and social media, my lights are always good, but never great. When I improve the quality of my content, I know I have to invest in good lighting to better reflect my work. This GVM light is all I need. It provides better lighting for my videos as well as for photos taken in thumbnail or staged shots. The product is very neatly packaged and the customer service is great. I would definitely recommend this product to content creators.
Elvis –
Definitely recommend this light to anyone looking to improve their studio lighting!
John –
Really love spotlight features
Chester –
This light is perfect for a newbie like me, a first video light, and couldn’t be easier.
Lambert –
The light, stand and softbox are very solidly constructed. It’s not as heavy as other lights due to its LED nature, which I think is a plus for small jobs (and your arm).
Barton –
I recently started doing some modeling for influencers on social media. I’ve been using a ring light and it seems to work just fine, but I wanted something to take my photography to the next level. This lamp is perfect. You can easily adjust brightness and color temperature. It’s very easy to set up and comes with a carrying case. You can move the light and adjust the angle with a simple rotation. It comes with various accessories that I haven’t touched yet. You can also sync it with your phone’s app. There is an LCD display which is very easy to use and can be changed with a simple knob. The carrying case is perfect, fits everything and keeps it secure, and the stand is nice and easy to adjust. This is useful for other things besides photography. My husband has used it a few times as extra light for his tattoos. This is definitely a professional grade light and I would recommend it. This company seems to produce high-quality products at affordable prices. I can’t wait to see how my work turns out now.
Hubery –
The fan runs slower to reduce sound when running, and faster when it doesn’t keep it cool, which is one of the best features compared to other similar lights in the price range. The remote is also very useful, uses radio frequency so it can drain the battery quickly, just remember to turn it off (there is a switch).
Henry –
App Controls is a nice add-on, and while I don’t use it much at all, I tend to use the controls on the lights.
Merlin –
This is the perfect key or key light source for small to medium rooms.
Brady –
as described
Murphy –
The chassis is cool too. Well made, insulated and travel friendly.
Matthew –
The remote is nice and works with other lights on different channels. This light will come in handy! very happy!
Donald –
Color accurate and affordable! Very satisfied with this.
Augus –
I really want to buy a few more GVM lights.
Arnold –
Control these colors. Light up those shots. Do it remotely! Nice gear.
Toby –
This led studio light is so far better and cheaper than the Godox light. The combination is perfect. It’s lightweight and not noisy.
Taylor –
Although I was missing a diffuser for the softbox, it served its purpose.
Justin –
This thing is bright! It can easily double the light output of any room. You can adjust the tint and brightness of white. It comes with 2 attachments, the first is a spotlight effect and the second is a plate to which the diffuser plate is attached. It comes with all power cables (I may add long cables). So if you need a really bright video light, this workhorse is all you need.
Byron –
I’m not a pro, but I can safely say that this is a great unit for those who want to expand their skills and get into off-camera flash and lighting. The build quality is very good, solid and doesn’t look or feel cheap. I would definitely consider the second one.
Andrew –
This is a complete kit that I found very useful as an amateur photographer. It comes with a softbox, sunshade cover, light stand, and of course, a beast of a 200W light.
Benjamin –
Ultra-bright light, perfect for use with octagonal or diffuser boxes. Shot some videos on it and it has perfectly even lighting with no flickering issues. It’s super easy to set up, and the handle on the back feels sturdy in transport to hold the light. Both the remote and the buttons on the back of the light are very easy to use. They are very intuitive.
Winston –
The remote is a bit finicky, other than that it’s a good light
Joyce –
My house has poor natural light and I’m always looking for something to help with my home studio. I love this lamp! The quality of my photos is so much better!
Carl –
The app requires a bit of manipulation, but it’s the easiest way to get the lighting you want. If you don’t see the light in the app’s device, press the Mode knob on the back of the light until “App” is displayed and exit the app and turn it back on.
Oliver –
The stand feels sturdy, unlike some cheap brands you can get out there, and its carrying case is easy to carry around.
Bob –
For most indoor situations, 200 watts is really more than enough. I will be using it for auditions for movies, tiktoks and some small movie scenes. That’s more than enough for my studio.
